KEF LS-50 pair in original box, like new

I don't think anybody thought you recommended them. Geriatrics on Audio Asylum and Audiogon bought sheet load of them based on introductory hoopla. I witnessed an introduction in Axpona along with the Blade . Meh ..but people can't resist paid reviews and of course there is this awful feeling of being left behind by technology. Recent swing into antiquated gear is not entirely based on nostalgia IMHO.

KEF had a special on "B stock" LS-50s for $900, and I wanted to try out a good coaxial speaker.
Well, they ain't it. Right out of the box they sounded horribly shrill, so I burned them in for a month
playing mono FM out of phase with the fronts close together.

After that, they were not shrill, but all the other bad qualities were still on display. Glad I could sell them eventually
to someone who really wanted them. To say they sounded like a gross caricature of music, compared to my Quad ESL,
is an extreme understatement.

I hear you. Romy got me on 10" Tannoy Red so I spent the last cent on them. They were only semi respectable on Leak TL50 monos in some strange case of one crup canceling badness of another. I will take a wizzer cone over coax.I find it less problematic. Never found Kef badged speaker I liked but LS3/5 in a closet sized room was absolutely lovely as was Linn Isobarik with first incarnation of Krell KSA100. ( IE power trans )
