I purchased a pair for KEF 104/2 speakers recently knowing that they had problems. Aside from the refoam and ferrofluid issues, the center donut supports on the bottom two woofers seem to have partially melted!!! They are glued in but I popped them out. I could assume that as the donuts rotted and fell down towards the voice coil it inhibited the movement of the woofer cone and caused the coil to overheat BUT the cones/coils seem to move without any friction or noise. Where can I get two of these center supports? I doubt that KEF sells them separately so I will have to get them from someone that has a couple of blown B200/SP1188 speakers.
I can probably DIY the supports with PVC pipe but I would rather use OEM parts.
Thanks in advance,
Barry

You can live without these donuts. The minimum needed is to add FF into the tweeters and give to this nice speaker an amp with a lot of muscles...
Thanks for your replies. Refoam kits are readily available. I already bought ferrofluid for the tweets. The spiders on two of the woofers have the cone sitting higher than they should. The other two are sitting lower than they should. Someone suggested hitting the spider material with some acetone to help reposition the cone on each driver. The "set" of the spiders is the opposite of what you would think that gravity might cause.
I need the donuts installed to insure that the cone is positioned correctly.
Once again, these are the butyl surrounds. Pictures attached.
Anyone ever try acetone on the spiders?
