Hi

My old amp has stopped working, the relay no longer switches, what usually causes this?

Can you hear the relay click ?
A DC fault will stop it making too.
Maybe start with a prod around the output transistors for shorts ?

No The relay doesn't click, from what I've read its used as part of the protection circuit using the IC TA7317P, looking at the diagram I can see a few Transistors (Q901,902 and 903) and Electro Caps (C801/C802 C901), I have ordered a Multimeter to do some testing..

First measure if there is any DC on the speaker output, but before the relay.
Protection circuit may be ok, just doing what it's supposed to do, to serve and protect. Yeah right.
Since you have schematics, it should be easy.
