It all started when I shoved a lawn mower into the trunk. I had to disconnect the sub box. Unfortunately, even though I tried to keep the leads separate...and not touching...the bastards touched and stayed that way for 10 min. Then the smell came. The amp works but, when the volume increases slighlty..the base cuts out. Then, when I turn the vol down again...it cuts in. Turning up the vol cuts the base out again. OBVIOUSLY something is wrong. Any ideas if its a simple fix?
Does the protect LED illuminate when the bass cuts out?
If you measure the DC voltage directly across the B+ and ground terminals of the amp, does the voltage drop significantly when the bass cuts out.
