Jeff Bagby Kairos vs JBL L82

Hi,
I have the Jeff Bagby Adelphos (Kairos with flat panel) and I'm thinking about buying the JBL L82.
I can audition the JBL in a store but I'm not sure it would tell me how they compare to the Adelphos...
Is the JBL would be in an upgrade? Or even interesting to the Adelphos?
Any thoughts?
Sorry if it not the right forum for this it's just not a lot of people in regular forums familiar with the Adelphos.
Thanks!

The JBL seems to be small version of old L100 and to me it looks like design to marketing department order. Something to offer for the middle age nostalgia demand.

If you like the aesthetics of JBL there is nothing better. If you are chasing sound quality I bet all the Bagby speakers sound better (never heard any though) simply because they seem to be designed for sound quality and not for looks. If you want better than the Bagby speaker you have look for some bigger three way designs. 3-way loudspeaker would ideally allow to play louder with wider bandwidth than a 2-way speaker.

Looked up L82 measurements JBL L82 Classic: Spinorama and Measurements | Audio Science Review (ASR) Forum
Measurement looks pretty good other than diffraction on the midrange due to the shoebox enclosure and it seems to be voiced for rising treble for extra sparkle that will land more sales on the store but might get irritating at home after a while.

tmuikku you nailed it.
That was my concerns, that the L82/L100 is more marketing department order than setting new boundaries of quality.
I really like the aesthetic of the JBL and I also looked for smallish 3-way (KEF R5, Chario Constellation, FOCAL ARIA and more). Still considering it...I just know that the Adelphos will beat those. The JBL is the opposite sound signature so it might do the trick.

That foam grill on the L82s looks like it could really affect the sound. I don't know for sure, but would certainly suggest listening to them both ways if you can find them in a store.

Problem is that with the grills removed those speakers are not very attractive to look at while listening to music.

I guess the questions people experienced with multiple hifi systems, like a dealer that you could visit, pre Covid era, is

Why are looking to change; or what aspects are you looking to improve, in your upgrade?
What is the size of your room?
What amplifier do you use?
What is your budget?
What kind of music do you really like?

Because the L82 will be different for sure. But will you like it depends on these factors?
