Hi there - I just got a (new) QSC K10.2 and like the sound - BUT when I stop playing (just in my home studio with keys), it sounds like a truck idling. I attached a recording. I made it by recording with my iphone next to the speaker. Is this normal? I can't hear it when I am playing but once I stop the sound continues for awhile. I don't want to mess with an RMA only to find out this is just normal PA fan noise. I have not had a speaker with a fan in it before.

I had to turn my laptop speakers up to full blast just to hear that, I usually keep that setting at 45%. I don't think this is something that will be an issue out on a gig
That first one was after it had settled down for a few minutes...normally it is like this one. It's tricky to know relative volume when someone records something, but I can hear it from my desk, its many times louder than the desktop computer I am sitting next to now. Would you keep it if you just bought a brand new PA that did this? I guess I just don't want to soak the place I bought it from with 2 more shipping charges frivolously, these can't be cheap to ship.

If the noisy fan is clear of debris it could be lacking oil in the fan. Although I'm sure you don't want to open it up and void the warranty to fix it

Leaving relative loudness aside, which we can´t judge on this side of the Net, the sound quality is scratchy grinding, like sand or the bearings , absolutely unacceptable.
I expect *wind* blowing sound, no motor noise at all, even less that falling apart grime caked axle one.
Replace that defective fan NOW, it will stall and let your amp cook and burn.
i agree that's terrible
the blades could be hitting something internal (hopefully not a wire loom), or damaged/cracked and the bearing will inevitably die...warranty be damned it needs to be fixed!!
is the protective grille bent??

If its new I'd suspect fouling of the fan blades first - but it could just be a defective fan, they are very much commodity items.
So I'm going to return it - if it wasn't brand new I'd probably have taken a look at that fan myself. Thanks for the feedback gang! I love the sound of the K10.2 outside of the fan.
when you say "new" does that mean you received it in a sealed factory shipping carton that you unpacked yourself?
Yeah brand new, opened myself about a week ago. (and observed the noise within my first couple uses).
Sure, I sent it back and will get a replacement. QSC tech said I should not hear anything like I recorded so I'm hoping in about a week I'll be back in business.
