I honestly can't think of a better collection of loudspeaker design programs than FRD Consortium. I use ARPE all the time, and the crossover program is amazing too. And there's another dozen that I haven't even tried.
But the site appears to be riddled with Spyware, or at least Google says it is. And today it won't even load.
Anyone have any idea on how to keep this one from going down the tubes? It would be a shame to have so much good software fade into obscurity. But due to the fact that the software is free, I get the impression that nobody has much of a vested interest in keeping FRD going. I could be wrong, but I've seen a lot of other good sites disappear for the same reason. (cough cough my own site for instance...)

Interesting! Bummer, never got around to downloading any of them.
Google claims to allow me to go there at my own risk, but don't know how well AVAST! antivirus freeware will protect me.

Here's a copy from six years ago; I don't get the impression that there was a lot of development in the last half a decade, but I may be wrong.
FRD Consortium
In fact, the whole reason I was looking for a new copy of ARPE was that my copy wasn't working. When I downloaded a six year old copy of the same software it works fine.
I know from running my own site that literally 95% of the user requests are from spammers, so the owners of this site probably just got sicking of fending them off. It totally sucks that you can't run a web site without having to deal with those spamming idiots.
It doesn't help any that the spreadsheets on the site aren't in zip format. By putting the spreadsheets in a self extracting exe file, it really opens the end user up to abuse.
If anyone wants to use the software without exposing themselves to a malicious exe, just get a copy of 7zip (free) and extract the exe file. (Since the exe file is simply a self extracting archive, you can get the contents without running it by extracting it manually with pkzip, 7zip, etc. I use 7zip because it's free.)
Note that those steps don't protect you from malicious content in the Excel code, but it's a start.

Your "wayback" link is probably completely up to date. Paul signed off in 2007 and nothing was added after that.
I have since posted my programs here:

I maintain the web site where Jeff's programs are currently hosted. I'd be happy to host some old FRD consortium stuff if there is enough demand for it, and if that would not offend the authors of said programs.

Charlie, I don't speak for the group, but I doubt it would offend anyone, as long as you aren't taking money for others' efforts. There was a lot of interesting stuff there.
So what do people find valuable in those tools? Are there any that would interest people to have a LibreOffice compatible tool? I don't have any of the originals of the stuff Paul V has hosted, but I could perhaps help with some open versions of the simpler tools like ARPE - my original radiation pattern spreadsheet has no macros or VB in it.

I've used several...Unibox, SPL Tools, RRC, ARPE, VPR, BDS, etc. Hosting the full collection of tools should be helpful to our community.
