Opinions please on the better method of switching from a line to phono input. The application is a mixer.
Option 1.. Just switch between the output of the phono stage and the line stage between buffered ouput and a shared pot.
Option 2.. Use a summing stage and a double pole switch to provide a buffered switch by swapping the mix resistors from bus to ground.
Option 3, doing away with a switch altogether and either mixing both sources to a shared pot or providing a seperate pot for each source prior to mixing them.
Is it preferable to avoid the switch int he signal path, or best to do without an extra summing stage?
