I dont use it that way for power cables with Cat5 .
I use the whole cable per connection, that means
3 Cat5 cables 1 cable each for earth, neutral & hot
Anyway its just for expermentation

I got a nice one surplus, try to use a fan or other enhanced ventilation. I use it on anything simply heat "scoring" non-TFE insulation.

I think that one (Duelund Coherent Audio DCA16GA) is best for the
snake oil thread as it looks to just be overprices tin plated copper wire.
Regular 14 gauge speaker wire is about $20 for 10 feet (double strand)
The Duelund wire looks to be about $10 a meter (for a single strand)
100 feet of Duelund it would be about $600 (100 feet = 30 meters @ $10 x 2 strands)
14 Gauge is also thicker meaning less loss.

More a ritual/cult thing, vintage WE electronics fetch fabulous prices in Asia so I figure an obvious extension of that is that the wire was "voiced" by the WE engineers in some long lost process.

I couldn't get WE so that's what I bought.
Oh & don't forget the Belden microphone cable
as well. Think that's another snake oil ?

I use one of these to control the levels of the audio from my preamplifier to my powered subwoofers

Belden cable is engineered and comes with specifications and is affordable. The world would be a better place if that is all people used for interconnects and the snake oil cable suppliers withered and died.

To me it is inexpensive & that
it really works well beyond what
it cost. If you try out the recommended
pairing, you might end up saying to yourself
it’s the greatest improvement you’ve ever
gain by spending so little. My speakers are
ML Odyssey which will easily expose any
faults or improvements in the chain

Hello Sumotan: You might want to check the snake oil section. Most every user of any type of snake oil (name your flavor) swears that anyone can hear the difference and of course the more expensive and non user friendly it is the better it is.

i trust my ears & I for one takes no interest in spending ridicules amount
of money on things like cables & the likes. Before I started diy 15 yrs ago
I was a Jadis man through & through so I know what its like to be in the
snake oil camp cause my group of friends were like that all caught up with
what absolute sound or stereophiple wrote & recommended etc

I agree that £10/metre is not expensive for internal wiring when compared with the cost of drivers etc. But it is a lot more than £1.49 for 8 metres of Cat6 solid core.

There were some good ideas here until we got into the wire thing. I had a 50 foot cat5 cable here for years that I didn't know why I was saving. Then I started building foamcore speaker cabinets and modding $3 chinese amps. The Cat5 has been a great free resource.
The sound you can now get out of a few dollars worth of parts is stunning. It's a good time to be a frugal music lover.
