Hi Midrange,

Go here read & follow everything it says. Small outlay & discover
for yourself, all that I can say is that it's really a ear opener without breaking
the bank.
The Duelund Coherent Audio DCA16GA has arrived! – Jeff's Place

Cheers

I think that one (Duelund Coherent Audio DCA16GA) is best for the
snake oil thread as it looks to just be overprices tin plated copper wire.

Regular 14 gauge speaker wire is about $20 for 10 feet (double strand)

The Duelund wire looks to be about $10 a meter (for a single strand)
100 feet of Duelund it would be about $600 (100 feet = 30 meters @ $10 x 2 strands)

14 Gauge is also thicker meaning less loss.

Hi Harry
We all are in hi end audio be it diy or commercial.
Snake oil is like interconnects, speakers cables etc
selling in the thousands of dollar. If spending a
$100 is expensive then one would have to ask
why are we in this hobby in the first place.

Yes I know what the titles says.
To me it is inexpensive & that
it really works well beyond what
it cost. If you try out the recommended
pairing, you might end up saying to yourself
it’s the greatest improvement you’ve ever
gain by spending so little. My speakers are
ML Odyssey which will easily expose any
faults or improvements in the chain

Hello Sumotan: You might want to check the snake oil section. Most every user of any type of snake oil (name your flavor) swears that anyone can hear the difference and of course the more expensive and non user friendly it is the better it is.

None are willing to do real blind testing, which tells us quite a bit.

Hi Starkyg,
i trust my ears & I for one takes no interest in spending ridicules amount
of money on things like cables & the likes. Before I started diy 15 yrs ago
I was a Jadis man through & through so I know what its like to be in the
snake oil camp cause my group of friends were like that all caught up with
what absolute sound or stereophiple wrote & recommended etc

Cheers

Aaah sorry Midrange
your from UK heavy taxes involved .
In that context yes it’s alot more
then Cat cables but in the context of
sound reproduction it’s return outweighs
that extra cost & dare I say even out
performs cable costing hundreds of
pounds or even thousand pounds
Cat works pretty well but its got
short comings like placement & sound
tizzy at times & on vocals have to much
sibilance

There were some good ideas here until we got into the wire thing. I had a 50 foot cat5 cable here for years that I didn't know why I was saving. Then I started building foamcore speaker cabinets and modding $3 chinese amps. The Cat5 has been a great free resource.

The sound you can now get out of a few dollars worth of parts is stunning. It's a good time to be a frugal music lover.
