This resistor was removed from an old HP signal generator. I have found it to have a wonderful effect on the overall sound of my system. It brings the warmth without a large loss in detail and highs. Keep in mind this is true in MY system. Does anyone know what type it is and the who made it. Does anyone have any of these? I would take one apart to solve what type it is, but I haven't any spare ones. Copper leads and non magnetic.

resistor
I have some tantal resistors that look like this.
These are indeed known to have a welcoming effect on nice sound, low very low noise and hence in the feedback has big merits.
I have since found that these are vintage Mepco metal film mil spec resistors. These sound very neutral to me with very good detail without being harsh. I see there are some of these for sale around the net, give a few a try in I/v circuits. Their specs are very good also.
