I need help to mod a vestax mixer

Hi everyone!

I need help modding a vestax pmc-07 pro mixer. What I plan to do is purchase a small effects unit, and somehow wire it into the mixer (it doesn't have sends o returns) so it will in effect become something like the pioneer 5-600m mixer. I have somewhat figured out how to route the signal which will go like this:

1: from the mixer, I will find where the sound from each channel comes from before entering the crossfader, and route them to a 4 position switch, this will allow me to use effects over individual channels.

2: another line will run from the master-out source to the 4-way switch so I can have the option to have effects over the entire mix.

3: the return from the effect unit will have to go to the master out on the mixer, but I am not sure how to make the signal not too loud.

4: the 4-way switch should be: 1, no sound 2,left channel 3,right channel and 4 both channels.

I also would like to have a volume control and an instant kill switch, but these i am not sure how to do. Idealy, I would like the volume control to be a short fader, but I am not sure where to find them. I am slightly above beginer in terms of electronics, so I am having a hard time designing a circuit which can do all of this. In theory it sounds pretty easy to me, but when I try to figure out the circuit I get confused. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks, Dave

That sounds like a lot of hassle... why not just buy the mixer with send/return... you will probably spend a lot of money and it might not be very easy...

If the signals just go onto a big PCB in the Vestax it will be a mission to find out what goes where...

Plus you run the risk of it crapping out just when you are doing the perfect beatmix in front of 100 people! 😀
