How does my CD-67SE vary it's analog output?

Till I just recently purchased a good used CD-67SE I was under the impression that only a very short list of high-end players were able to connect to a power amp directly. Of those that I knew of were the Wadias, Accuphase, Theta Miles, etc. Now I find the CD-67SE can do so and I'm curious about whether the method of varying the output compares with it's higher-end brothers. Another thing I want to be careful of is any clock and op-amp upgrades and their potential impact on this feature. Any thoughts anyone?

Regards,
Dan

The volume is implemented in digital domain inside the digital filter/DAC chip. The sound quality decreases with decreasing volume. In my opinion only the upper part (some 10%) of volume control is useable without too much impact on sound....

The clock and opamp mods give huge improvements in this CD player.

Search the forum and you'll find plenty of information on how and what to do.
