Horn Speakers for near field listening

Hi Guys,
Been thinking of getting a pair of JBL 4429 but wonder if they're ok for near field listening like 7-8 ft away.

I've been a horn guy for years. A friend of mine has a pair of DIY horn much like the 4429. His room is very small and it may not be a PERFECT room but they sure do sound great regardless.

I don't know how a perfect room is made...

I haven't heard any 12"+tweeter in a horn...

Still there's something missing...
