Hi, who has experiences with line arrays or can tell me links how to find infos about it?
thanks,
Ralf

Hi Ralf
There were some good JBL line source designs in the late 70´s
wich are adaptable to hifi use, I have the design papers, will look them up and scan.
The next step would be a planar wave source, bigger but even more fun, i´ve got a nice design You can have.

Here's something I built last month. It uses scrap priced drivers from PE. They sound really good. I am building another currently using inexpensive ribbon tweeters.

One pair is built from 1 sheet of ply.

I'm currently at the design stage with a speaker inspired by the Infinity IRS. 😀
I plan to use 5 Peerless 12" XLS per speaker, mated to the B&G RD-75. The crossover point will probably be slightly below the point at which the bass array begins to comb (between 200Hz and 300Hz), and will be the highest order I can get away with in the digital domain, to improve the effective power handling of the RD-75.
Any thoughts?
BTW I'd like to thank the Bush administration for driving the dollar/sterling rate into the 'it would be stupid not to buy at US prices' range😉

It's nice if you are buying, but not if you are selling into the US... 🙁

array design
as i read the white paper i think its not possible to use 14 pieces of 5" (13cm) bass midrange, and 16 pieces of silk dome tweeters, when i want to crossover them at 4500hz with 1st order (6DB)?!!!
the thing is, that i would prefer 1st order crossocer.
Do you think it will work?
thera are silk dome tweeters in a case of 5 to 5 cm wilh a 2,8cm silk dome in it. Perhaps i can use them??
thanks,
Ralf

I also just replied to your message...
I have very little experience at this, however, most of the good tweeters are going to recommend a second order cross. Perhaps this is only a method of protection, but then, that's a really good reason all on it's own.
