Hellooo, I've just arrived here following links as I poked around tintyweb to do with Rauch DVT 250 S amps and of course I've got very sidetracked. This is one of the most interesting forums I've encountered and I'm very old. I'm interested in all of it, always have been. Learn something every day, teach something every day and help someone every day. They are the best days. I fall somewhere in the middle of the quagmire of musician, sound engineer, technician, experimental artist, analogue and digital media, interactive installations and stuff, taught stuff at uni and still always learning stuff. They call me crazy, I get sidetracked a lot and don't make much sense a lot of the time and I'm a bit of a tosser too.. I try not to be. Hmmn, seems I've gone off on one already. I'll just blend in as best as I can, like the sound engineer I am. Wearing black, at the back... I'm open to anything, I live for this whole sound and music thing. Thank you so much indeed. I did find the Rauch thread which is responsible for me being here but it was off on a tangent and I only just noticed it was quite old, like meself. I'll keep a long story short, I have 6 Rauch DVT 250 S amps and I proper love them. PA system, 3 rauch and a carver PM 1.5A on each side. Love it, the perverse joy I quietly buzzed on when the youngsters crewing had to get 2 bulldog flight case down some stairs with that lot in them... Anyhoo, what goes around. A friend has a nightclub, does gigs. Had some name A list thing coming to play. I dunno who, but can he borrow some amps to fill his house rig in? Yeah, no problem, take one of the amp racks. Off I go, things to see, people to do. Following day, back to get my amp rack and the amps are out of the case on the dance floor. WTF??? The Rauch have XLR in, and XLR speaker out and you know where this is going. Yep, all 3 DVT s blown to pieces both channels. If he wasn't my best mate and they didn't weigh a Ford Fiesta each I have stuffed them down his throat.. The Carver lived to fight another day. I'll take some pics of these Rauch and beam them up here tomorrow. So, what do I do? Quandary. Do I try and rebuild them coz I love them and do anything I can to keep icons alive, or do I gut the cases and put some other things inside? 4 channels of class D, or 2 x 1000 watts of analogue somethings... So much for keeping it short, eh chaps. Well that's as far as I have got. Lockdown madness made me grab these amps from where I'd buried them under the apple tree on top of the wife, and I have a desperate need to resurrect them. The amps, not the wife.
Oh, and to be fair my friend didn't wreck them. Youngster's from the college crewing got it all wrong and had XLR leads going from spkr out to line in all over the place. Poor amps never stood a chance. We use the youngsters under the guise of they're learning and we're teaching them, but I often think it's coz we don't have to pay them... Backfired on me that one, eh
