Hi DIy experts

I need help to build 2.1 channel Amp.
i have zero knowledge of electronic. just started after i found lots of Newbie got success in it.

I have already purchased
1>Wintek - 200W Mono (2SA1943 / 2SC5200) W/o Heat Sink
2>Wintek - 68W Mono (LM3886) W/o Heat Sink

for 1 Wintek-200W Sub AMP (Power supply: 2 x 30-42VDC / 520-720VA)
and for 1 Wintek-68W-Mono-(LM3886) AMP(Power supply: +/- 20 - 35VDC / 190-230VA) (68W cont. avg. output power into 4 ohms at VCC = +/-28V)

-->The above details are only for single AMP
For Wintek 200 watt i am confuse should i go with 30vdc or 42 vdc or 36VDC will be good to produce 200watt @ 8 Ohm ? and transformer power ?

For 2 Wintek-68W-Mono-(LM3886) Transformer power ?

Currently i have 24-0-24 @5A can i use it to feed 2 LM3886

A 24-0-24 @5A is a 240 W transformer.

When rectified and filtered to DC you will have less than 240W of power (continuous)

Take a look at page 11 of this: https://www.hammfg.com/files/literature/5c.pdf

The 200W and 5 x 68W modules are not 100% efficient. Find the data sheets for the devices used in the modules. i.e.LM3886 ( http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm3886.pdf )

Now despite all of that music is not 100% output all of the time.

There are peaks and average power requirement levels.

I can't recall the exact values because it varies with the type of music you listen to.

IMHO the 24-0-24 @5A should be able to run two LM3886 modules with 8R speakers.

Hope that helps.

Hi DUG

Thanks for your reply
Currently i have planned to go for 2.1 first with two different transformer one for Sub and one for Stereo.
Transformer 24-0-24 5A will be now okay for 2 LM3886 ? or i need to contact Vendor to customize a new one?
I need best output from these two LM3886 because sub i am going to using is 12 inch 4 Ohm 300watt and as per vendor Wintek 200 amp is best choice for it.

As per datasheet for one LM3886 amp
68W cont. avg. output power into 4 ohms at VCC = +/-28V
38W cont. avg. output power into 8 ohms at VCC = +/-28V
50W cont. avg. output power into 8 ohms at VCC = +/-35V

one more thing i found that using Tran. 24-0-24 5A My DC output is +34 0 -34 VCC
is that sufficient for two LM3886 ?

two 50W amplifiers fed from one transformer require a VA from 100VA to 200VA.
But will also work with transformers outside this range.
Two 68W amplifiers will work with a 136VA to 272VA transformer.

Just multiple the TOTAL maximum output power by 1 or 2 to arrive at the range of suitable transformers.

Hi Andrew

Thanks 🙂

Now need help for wintek AMP

1 Wintek-200W Sub AMP (Power supply: 2 x 30-42VDC / 520-720VA)
Wintek - 200W Mono (2SA1943 / 2SC5200) W/o Heat Sink

Please correct me if i am wrong with Transfo. for SUB
30-0-30 12 A
30*2*12=720VA

Vendor whom i got this wintek suggested me Toroidal Transformer from his own website
DAC - 32-0-32V X 1, 18-0-18V X 1 - Toroidal Transformer - 548VA

But price listed is very high, i will get same in local market with less price and i will have option to customize it.

Please advice for Wintek Sub Transformer.

What are the sensitivties of your main speakers and your bass only speaker?

Hi Andrew

On Vendor recommendation i have purchased

Peerless Fabrikkerne (I) Ltd - 12" Sub-Woofer 4Ω (Local Maker) for SUB which i have planned to drive using (Wintek 200 8Ohm Mono AMP).
Peerless Fabrikkerne (I) Ltd - 12" Sub-Woofer

for Two LM3886 stereo output yet to decide drivers.
Please advice if above combination is okay or i need to change ?

Any chance you will read my question? And maybe give an answer?

If your bass only speaker is 94.7dB/W @ 1m
and your satellites are 91.7dB/W @ 1m, then when you supply all three speakers with the same power you get the same SPL from the three.

If your satellites were 94.7dB/W @ 1m (to match the bass) you would need twice as much power to get the same SPL from the bass only speaker.

If your satelites are 8ohms and your equal sensitivty bass is 4ohms you get that doubling in bass power from the same voltage of the amplifiers. that means you use the same supply voltage for all three anplifiers.

Until you know how sensitive your satellites are going to be, you can't set a target maximum power for any of your amplifiers.
