Hi. I thought I should join a Diy site as I am starting to build my first pair of speakers (audio excite design) and this seemed the most helpful site I've stumbled upon so far.🙂
I am a mechanical design engineer by trade but am very new to electronics hence the need to post some very basic questions about buying inductors which doesn't seem to be anywhere near as straight forward as resistors and caps.
If anyone could point me to the most appropriate part of the forum to ask these beginner questions it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Paul. I would be happy to meet you sometime.
I think that winding one's own inductors is dead easy. These days it is inexpensive to measure your value with various digital devices found on eBay. You can get exactly what you need and make easy modifications if you desire.
You can google winding information, using different sizes of copper wire.

Thanks also for the generous offer of meeting up sometime cornelis. I may well take you up on it, especially when it's time to plug everything up. It would be reassuring to have a second opinion before I power everything up and risk doing some damage! I'm based in Ogmore by the way, so not far from Cardiff.
