I just picked up a great pair of Heathkit as-101`s same as Altec Valenica`s cabinets and drivers are nice to mint. My question is i find them not as clear sounding as i think they should be. Could this be caused by the crossovers? If so how do i fix the problem or doe`s anyone out there sell new ones?? Any info would be great.
Assuming the drivers are in good working order:
Do you have any spare parts laying around that you could throw together a simple XO and run it directly to the drivers for testing?

I am not really into the technical part to much. I am just wanting to know if there is a upgrade or someone that sells the caps for these speakers? I really think they should sound better then they do. My Altec model 14`s sound alot better then these??? could i try the xovers from them to see if there is a difference??
Sorry for the delay in getting back.
That would be OK for the short term just to test but not as a permanent installation. I'm not sure about complete XO's but I, and many here, use Great Plains Audio for repairs and rebuilds. I would think they could help you out.
