Ok, here's what I'm looking for... please correct me if my math is wrong 🙂
By definition (subject to correction), HDTV is defined as either 1080 lines interlaced or 720 lines progressive. Based upon 720 progressive, at 16:9 format, I'd need a screen 1280 pixels wide.
I've only seen a few 15" LCD monitors that will do 1280x1024. Anybody know of one that will do this res, that is also reasonably easy to disassemble? Preferrably one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

vudutek there are NO 15" lcd monitors that have a native res
above 1024X768 at least that im aware of anyways
if you want that res out of a 15" you have to get a laptop+controller or try to incorperate the laptop into your pj
design
if you did see a 15" monitor with that res and it was native
"not scaled" i would love to have a link to it

hmmmm
well..... seems like HDTV isn't gonna be a reasonable option, at least not this year....
thanks for the input folks!

It's strange that there's no 15" monitors with higher res. There's 15.1" LCDs in laptops with 1400*1050 native LCDs, I wonder why nobody's made monitors with LCDs like this yet.
ehu
i ask myself that same question, and i think its cos they are holding back the tech to make money on the old tech first and maybe with a cheaper price on the older tech it may drag more people in the computer world money hole

brainstorming....
ok... moving right along.....
same concept, upgraded a notch.....
Old-type 450 MH light
Aluminum trapezoid light-tunnel config
UV glass (heat block)
17" LCD (anybody taken one apart yet?)
12.2" fresnel (condenser)
PJ lens out
Think the 450 might have enough horsepower in this config to drive a setup like this?

it looks ok but your back in the same boat with the 12.2 fresnel
you need a fresnel thats 14" to display the 1280 on a 17"
and yes i have disasembled a 17" 1600X1024 widescreen lcd
i think a 400w mh would do the trick no problem
but you need a larger fresnel i have found them pretty cheap
well cheap for large fresnels anyways
im thinking of asking the ppl on this fourm to do a group buy
because theres a minum price amount without paying extra
i can buy just 1 fresnel from them but theres a fee if the order is under $300

if i can find a good deal on a 17" (hint, hint) i'm definitely gonna be needing one of those fresnels. what's the approx cost per at this point without a group buy?
well with out a group buy they are about $80 each
if i can get 4 people to go in on them they are $60
and thats without shipping

I'm interested
Is each person going to need one or two of these. Is it single or double? How many grooves? 60 bucks is doable. I'm probably going to try to incorporate the laptop route.
