I have read many, too many of the posts as my wife would say, and was looking for a fairly safe, easy and cheap project to get my feet wet. I was wondering if some of you could point me in the right direction, I was wanting to build a decent single channel amp (for a sub) so any help would be greatly appreciated(links would be a godsend)

Would be a good one to start with. This site is also a great source of info as well as projects with details on the building and theory.

Projects to "get your feet wet"
Why not try ESP they have some nice simple projects that have available PCB's, not too expensive either.

For cheap & easy & good sound it is hard to beat a gain klone.
There are some threads here that discuss it.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
