I think what the kit offers are already covered by the market. One can always buy ready made or custom order ones. But I can see there is a market for it if it can do AWG 8, 10, 12 ...

Tried?
Have you tried odering a custom one off toroid?
Even Plitron will try to discourage you from doing so as it is NOT cost effective.
I tried to order two 1.5KVA with 65v secondaries from them last year and they didn't even want to consider it, they have 60v and although not listed, 70v as standards so I opted for the 70v.
I know this mackine will not do anything that big but it would be nice to have the facility to wind your own toroids if you build a lot of power supplies etc.

I have ordered several custom transformers from Victoria Magnetics. The prices are reasonable, and you can get them to any spec you want.
Cores are cheap and easy to get but that dosnt make this particular winding machine any good as it does not do thicker wire than 1.6 or so. The ones that can deal with thicker wire are a lot bigger and quite pricey.
Anything below 1.6mm wire can be found custom wound for little money in most countries.

i tried to get a quote on a few transformers from VM, and theirs were very high, and they said they couldnt even get cores for 1500va, they were too difficult to source... thats the only reason i said that.
something about a metal shortage. you would think the metal for a CAR would be hard to source, but not a single core for a 1500va transformer

Metal shortage is a serious issue theese days. The price for scap steel reflects that in particular. Its been increasing by a factor 15 here during the last year or so...scary that is. The same story goes for pretty much any other construction metal. Copper have been hit hard, I just bought a few spools of magnet wire, omething like 100 lb....lets put it like this, the invoice was downright scary

thats what they were saying. it just seemed odd though that they couldnt even source a transformer core though. oh well, i guess ill just have to look elsewhere for that size, or buy a machine 😉
btw, thanks a bunch Magura. i will have pics in an hour or two i hope.

i saw a thread of mine awhile back regarding my aleph theatre project, and decided i need to finish it. these amps are the test runs. all parts are ready to go to FINISH my aleph2's. so, as soon as these work, and i know what im doing, i can finish the others up.

All I want is to see is a video clip showing a toroid winder in action. Trying to visualize in my mind (and in 3D) how that would work makes my head spin. Even trying to follow what my mother's old Singer was doing when making lock stiches was mind boggling.
