I'm looking for a decent pot to build a quick stereo attenuator from. anybody have something good but not too good they would be willing to part with for a reasonable price?? something under $30 bucks maybe??
I have a very nice pot i yanked from a piece of gear but at 5K the value is a little low.
it would be nice if it was a 4 section pot so i could wire up unbalanced and balanced as well, but thats asking for too much.
Mainly I will be using it between my CD player and my amp.
Or maybe you can recommend something thats available out there?
Thanks

The $1.79 Alps pots at Radio Shack are surprisingly good; I've used them in some pretty sophisticated gear. But the Alps blue ones are certainly worth the money, and they're priced reasonably for the quality.
Have a look at this:

He also sells Alps Blue Velvet for $16.

Really hard to beat for the price... i had someone smuggle me a bunch of these.

HMMMMMMM good info there! that stepped atten looks interesting. But as i suspected. the alps blue seems to be king for the price. I just need to figure out what value to get. something generic i can use for a variety of sources. I would imagine 50 or 100K should be sufficient??

Smuggling pot into BC? Well, that's a first.
