Goodmans 10´s alnico's red painted, worth the pain?

Hello all.

Rainy day here.
Someone in my country ( 400 km from home) is selling a pair of Goodmans 10's, alnicos drivers, with red painting around magnets...

He sais they are full range pulled from some big cabinets.

Someone knows these speakers? Does they worth the pain? ( pain is 80 uss the pair)....

One of the has a little rip on the cone, "easy fixable" sais the seller.
I have a pair of philips 9710 waiting for cabinets too....

what more you want to know , and to pay them just 80$ ?

If they was yours, what kind of cabinet you build to them around? ( assuming they are full range)...or OB ?...

being from that era , they certainly belong in Infinity Baffle camp

however , nowadays is not so hard and complicated to measure Thielle Small parameters
with that on hand , choosing best type of cabinet is much easier

I have 8" Goodman Axiette, rather high Q works best in large closed boxes ( or with resistive vents) The Philips 9710 works really well in the Decca Corner Horn, that really is a quarter wave pipe not a horn. At least it should not face toward the listener.

I was planing to build the A5 but i'm open to a better box.

Either Box Will do. The thing With the 9710 is that the forward response is shrill and unbalanced. The Decca (se My building thread) has the driver facing the wall and then IT sounds quite balanced, closed Box or pipe.

You're lucky. In my country a pair of Goodmans go from $500 if they are pretty bad, rusty and full of holes, to $2,000 if only dusty and dirty!

Anything that is old is considered "vintage" here and carries a premium price!

Finally they are at home.
They came well packed.
One is mint, the other has a little rip, no big deal.

They measure 24,5 ohms each, it was a surprise cause i was waiting 16...

I tested them with a sansui quad 8500, with lot of precautions.
The sound was very detailed, and nice.
