A friend assembled an Audio Sector gainclone for me.
It sounds incredible and is now my hifi amplifier.
I am running inputs into a separate switch box. No preamp.
Keen to try myself I bought a kit from China and assembled one myself which I donated to a friend.
I prefer the Audio Sector.
I now want to build an Audio Sector kit myself as well as make a hifi worthy chassis.
(I'm a woodworker)
Some questions.
1) Does the Audio Sector LM3875 kit benefit from a preamp?
2) Should I build a single integrated box with multiple inputs and rotary switch?
Or build a separate switching box (potentially with preamp based on answer to previous question )

If you have room, then there is no problem with putting all the selectors and vol pot inside the main amplifier enclosure.
Now that most equipment puts out line level, we don't need pre-amplifiers to boost or EQ the signals.
You may want to include a switchable +6dB/+12dB gain stage that can be inserted into the line in of some of your inputs, just in case you get a low output device/s that is/are not loud enough.

Thanks Andrew.
Will follow that advice.
What would you use for your gain stages?
