I have a pair of these drivers for more than 2 years without building a cab for them. I have been thinking about BLH to OB to everything else but am still undecided.
So would you be kind enough to comment about their sound in the zHorn Heruka. Do they need a sub? Thanks a ton.

The Fostex 168 E Sigma undoubtedly were meant for a horn loading. They do not have much excursion, thus are capable of usable treble. I've heard of people using drivers of this series in an open baffle (OB), but only with a subwoofer. In a back horn, the longer the pipe the deeper the bass is prominent, the wide the mouth the more the bass is prominent.
I do agree that the 168E Sigma do not have great Xmax, but they happen to be the best of the 3 drivers in the Sigma series.
What would you say about their sound in the zHorn Heruka cabs in which you were using them? Are you not happy with the sound and is that the reason you are selling them, and that with the boxes?
I have heard them a couple of times in a TL meant for some other 6.5" drivers and they sounded good. The highs are not that extended but sounds coherent. My plan is to cross them above 5KHz to a Fountek ribbon driver which I bought together with the Fostex.

The 168 E Sigma compared to the 108 E Sigma have a weighter midrange, adding body to male voices. The treble is better with the 108, but the 168 are fine, esp. when paired with a SET amp (not always know for treble extension). The 208 E Sigma lack in the treble. I'm selling these because I've plenty of speakers, liking most, liking these, but not needing a half dozen speakers. My house hold will be shrinking soon, I'm unloading.

Yes, in an appropriately sized room. However, with bass heavy material, the use of a good sub will show what the 108 cannot do by itself. With the 168, one can sort of live without a sub.
