A few weeks back I stumbled across a site that was selling Extremis 6.8 drivers- except that they had a different name! They looked exactly the same, and even the T/S parameters looked like that of the Extremis. They did not call the motor XBL^2, but there was sufficient info there to make the connection.
Problem is, I can't for the life of me remember the vendor's name or find the url. Does anyone know this site?

they do mention XBL^2 -seem to use it in most of their products.
Apparently quite a new company, they have recently brought out some very interesting drivers.. like that 15" subwoofer, improved "extremis" (heard that it's more woofer and less midwoofer now) + those 4.5" wide ranges with 12mm peak to peak x-max (with XBL^2)

now that's some nice off axis -performance there, 30' off good to about 3khz, nice response also. but, do they have something to hide not shoving below 80hz -or is that graph for 5" version?
I don't think they should be played below 80hz, if you want high output.
is it true that these drivers don't have copper rings in motor?
that's what turned me away from purchasing them, I want some copper in woofers' motors 🙂

i think this confirmes, same response here with 5" version:

it DID look too good for 6.5 incher.. mean the offaxis resp.
wonder what it really looks like, they do recommend oversized enclosure (>Vas) and advert -3db@37.5hz.

Bob has been around for years & years... it is only in the last 3 years or so that, with Dan Wiggin's assistance" he has been getting his own drivers made... i now consider him to have the spiritual descendents of the Adire line.
I posted more info on the SDX7 here.

We will soon have suggestted drawings and alignments for sealed, BR, a TL, an ML-TL, and a MooseBVR (Shadow II) for these
A FR anomaly just before 1k suggests that an earlier XO to get resonse to 1K is probably as high as you'd like to go (the Extremis althou used higher, IMO shouldn't have been)... XO to a good midtweeter like a Fostex FF85K, Mark Audio JX6, Joran or Bandor 50 mm or some of the ribbons that go low, for an interesting 2-way.

my first build with these in a approx .5ft^3 sealed box should be making noise within the next few days.
we'll let ya know how that works, if you don't mind a completely subjective opinion

does your wife/GF know about this (or already have one in her sock drawer)
I found it...
Acoustic Development International
... but now I'm not so sure they sell to the public.

ADi is a transducer engineering company formed by Dan Wiggins and partners. Dan designed the Extremis woofer and is a patent holder of the XBL^2 design. I too doubt that the general public could purchase an Extremis from ADi, as they seem to be geared towards OEM supply.
I see in AudioXpress, Hemp Acoustics has an ad that features XBL^2 drivers that lool like the Extremis 6.8 (there is also an 8" version). One of them, a 6.5", has a note saying that it can replace the Extremis.
