From the trading post no doubt? If not, check there for a member selling them half price. I'm also curious about the fostex domes, many of their products are very good indeed. FT7RP ribbon is nice, and ff85k and ff225k are both excellent 'fullrangers'. 85k gives up a couple octaves on the bottom, 225k gives one on the bottom and one on the top, both well-done compromises.

I've heard the FT207 in a number of Tim Forman'smultiway creations. They are quite good. They are limited in how low they go (but i figure you shouln't be XOing a tweeter lower than it can go anyway)

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking about crossing them over at
2k. Which seems OK from the data sheet, but lower than the XO that
is shown in the data sheet. What do you think?

For some reason i have a 5k minimum XO in my head (that is as low as i'd take a dome anyway... any lower and you need a better mid.

2k is a stretch, but...

5k? Huge directivity shift at the crossover frequency.... I understand your desire to keep the crossover well away from the mid, but then, that makes more directional tweeters a more viable choice. Horns and ribbons rule the day in "beaming midrange" crossover territory, IMO.

I haven't used this model, but I've used the FT28D. The FT28D is a very good tweeter. I compared a number of tweeters a while back using an 8-pole crossover at 2900Hz, and I was a bit surprised that the FT28D sounded almost identical to the Vifa XT19, in spite of the very different materials and construction. I would expect the FT207D to be a good performer as well.

One of the reasons i didn't get any of these (they were offered a long time ago).

They worked quite well with the WR125 crossed at 5k.

I'm more a horn crossed at 10-15k myself. The "mid" i'd be XOing to has pretty good off-axis performance according to the best data i've been able to gather so far (off axis is ~20 and 40 degrees -- top end is limited above about 15 k, so i don't know whether the on-axis is plummeting up there or the mic)

5k works fine with the P13 ... we used a modified VIFA with our build. I may still have a set of P13 and i know we are hoarding 2 pair of the tricked out tweeters. We liked them with a single cap on the tweeters (see the diyAudio Ref thread/Wiki article)
