ok so i got a old overhead projector for close to nothing, and a dell 1503FP 15" lcd with dvi input. I was able to strip the lcd with no troubles and put it on the overhead...ran a dvd through a s-video to vga box that i had sitting around for a while...and here are the results....btw the diagonal is about 8 feet...so almost 100"
next step i think will be to put a double ended hqi or similar metal halide bulb in the overhead box..cause its not bright enough yet with just the 600w halogen...just need to figure out if 250W will be enough or will i need 400W
Any input would be great guys....
here is the overhead projector...i know it looks old..
here is the FCC conections to the lcd...its got enough room to play with..
the lcd on the ohp.
into to a movie...
most evident on how dark it is...
same pic taken at 5 feet away..bit brigher...cant wait to find and install a new bulb...after i figure out what to use..

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Do you have an on screen dispay(osd) of LCD adjustments for contrast, brightness, etc.? Have you adjusted any of the default values for the LCD in the OSD? A lot of monitors come with a default gamma of 0 -1, try setting that to 2 or 3 for more definition of the dark areas. Adjusting the contrast and brightness should help, also
ya i tried that the other day but not when i took those pics..it didnt really help any....
im definetly getting a metal halide/hqi bulb set up for two reasons, to make it brighter, and the make it less yellow.
still dont know what to get...250w or 400w

for a 15inch or bigger lcd you should really use a 400 watt ushio
u could use a 250 but you wont be happy with it i havea 400 watt ushio ss 400d for sale i used it for maybe a 1 hour totaly during my testing ... i havent the time or money to continue with my project for a bit and hate to see the bulb not being used id sell it for $50 shipped but am unsure about the shipping cost to canada let me know i have a ebay and paypal account in good standing.
