hi guys, I just want to know what you thing about sigma 18" driver for home environnement? with about 200watt/8ohm amplifier

it will be for 95% musique and live music show on dvd. 5% movie.

I'm limited to 180-200 liters box (probably use the recommeded BR 7cu/ft box from eminence f3:40htz)

I'm a newbie with PA woofers. i know it will be not go realy down but it's for ALL type of music.

I look for large diameter driver but cheap price if you have another suggestion

thank you.

I think you would be better off doing a horn design like I am, I don't have the money or room for 18" drivers so I'm doing THIS design. There are also designs for 15" drivers with are supposed to be able to beat 18" of similar power levels I think.

There are also a lot more horn designs of course!

I don't know that much but there are others in this section of forum who will be very able to tell you in detail but I can tell you they are a type of rear loaded horn they are pften called hybrids.

I can't teall you about horn theory I have no clue but they are supposed to yield very good sensitivity.

FYI:

Hi-Fi...Lo-FI comparison:

About 6 cu ft (net) with the port tuned to 28hz and a high-pass filter with a Q=2 at 28hz will give you a -3dB point of 28hz with the SIGMA PRO 18A-2.

Most common plate amplifiers have a hi-pass filter than can be changed as per the above requirements.

I don't know how you get 28htz in F3, I make a simulation with BBpro and it give me 62htz with your specs.. how you get that ?

"ok, I'm sorry, I'm a newbie with high-pass filter. so it will not be causing a over-excursion even over 28 ? "

You can model it in BassBoxPro, I use v6.0

I'll post the window for that design when I get home. Remember, musical program material doesn't eat cone excursion like sinewaves do.
