I was peering around in a small stereo reciever I've been wanting to recap, taking notes of the values. I bagn to look around on Mouser, and I've noticed I could spend a little extra money and replace all the 1uf - 4.7uf caps electrolytic caps with polyesters of the same values.
Does anyone have a reason as to why I would not want to do this?

Well... with the greatest respect... is it worth it ?
Also will the film caps physically fit, and if they don't then the end result will look a mess 🙂 Not only that but any extra wires/lead length is an open invitation to pick up noise degrading the performance.
By all means have a go, but I would definitely get parts that fit the PCB.

If I'm reading the specs right, they will fit. Polyesters are often cheaper and smaller than say, polypropelynes. The thing I was looking at would be longevity, as films tend to last longer than electrolytics.
