I came into possession of a quad of EL95 along with a pair of small 10k Ra-a UL OPTs for them. So I'm building a small PP amplifier around them, expecting 6-7 wpc in UL.
Cathode biased for simplicity.
Topology is a 6N1-based initial gainstage AC coupled to a 6N1 LTP
Anyway, so much for the project. I note the EL95 has both pins 1 and 7 noted as being g1 (control grid).
What's the convention here? I feel like there's something I should know. Is it normal to use just one of the pins and leave the other disconnected? Or is it normal to connect those pins when wiring up the base?
I feel like this is one of those things that might be there to stop RF oscillation or something, but searches haven't turned up anything more than opinions, mostly conflicting.
Thanks
