Efficient dual rail DC power supply for car audio

Power supplies aren't my speciality by any means so thought I'd ask here for some ideas...

I'm looking at playing around with some Class D amps (most likely Hypex-based) for use in car audio. So I need as an example, +- 50V DC power rails.

Easiest solution but not elegant and not DIY and probably the least efficient: use an inverter then a normal 230V AC SMPS to give me the required voltages.

Second easiest solution but relatively costly, buy something like the Coldamp CPS80, but it's out of stock, and I would prefer a self-build.
