DS-15 Class-D Modul with much Trouble and used in a lot of Models from Harman//JBL

Good to see you around Eva :)
Totally agree. Hope HK has changed to something more up to date designs.
... but seem the JBL CSS10 is still in production/sale though!!!

A cheap but much better solution would be a IRS2092 based amp ..... actually bought two of these on ebay (YJ IRS2092 200W Class D Amp Mono Amplifier Board | eBay) just to see what you would get for 15 usd ... not bad at all, and would be a good upgrade to any of the products mentioned abowe ... (it's a IRAUDAMP 7 design/implementation)

....

Bu the way. Working on a new IRS2092 design with mixed pre and post filter fb .... assembling right now ;)

True. Even $15 IRS2092 Chinese PCBs on ebay are superior to Harman group solutions being shown in this thread. Film output capacitor. Over-current shutdown or limiting. Extended frequency range.

btw: Here one of the challenges I'm now facing is paralleling or not current limiting in bridged pairs of IRS20957, depending on whether BTL is detected or not, in a 4 channel amplifier, to avoid one of the channels folding back, as this fold-back is detected as shorted FET in my circuit (two consecutive OC events). CSD pin is only driven with +/-100uA, imposing a minimum timing even at absolutely minimum circuit capacitances. Another challenge is the current limiting of IRS20957 on itself coping with output filter resonance.

With both feet on the ground:
Topology: Born to be junk, without current limiting, without short pulse suppression, bipolar electrolytic output filter capacitors, when these start to dry or there is a cold solder joint the module gets all blown. Single part failure results in destruction of the assembly. Powered by Harman Kardon group.

I find motivation in that junk from (no longer reputable) groups to create circuits where no single part failure results in assembly destruction.

tiefbassuebertr: Feel free to install anything else in place of these modules.
Exactly. Because quick repair service in class D isn't possible for me in general, I always replace the complete unit (plate amplifier is the right keyword therefore - so I think) with poweramp/power-supply/filter by an analog version. I like the old hypex models "HS-200" and "HS-80" (for low SPL requirements) with TDA7294 therefore - go to

An important feature by this brand is the variable low pass filter with 24db/oct (most other have only 12db/oct).
Repair service on class-AB amps Is associated with considerably less troubles as on Class-D, particularly, if one have a design quality like those modules from harman on the desk.
Reducing idle current in the output stage to 2-4mA provides also good efficiency (nearly than class D) and the associated incrase on THD isn't audible, as long the cut-off frequency for the bass transducer isn't above approximately 70 until 80Hz.

I want to look the images, but the URL
https://postimg.org
don't goes open.
Please upload the jpg files here on diyaudio.com.
On this forum the pictures are not deleted as at imageshack or photobucket after a certain amount of time. This is a great advantage.
Thank you for your efforts.

any news?

I opted for postimg because of the size , i can upload high-res photos there , the links work if you open them in a new tab.

Thank you - good advice.
Concerning the SXA-180 I have found this:

http://elektrotanya.com/electro-voice_sxa180-18_sch.pdf/download.html
unfortunately without a detailled circuit describtion resp. theory of operation from the DS-300
The DS-300 is also in use by the model "THX Select S300" from Magnat

and by the model Definitive Technology, model Pro Sub 1000

By all manufacturers isn't mentioned the second source manufacturer from the DS-300.
As mentioned in one of the threads, even Magnat don't get service-information like troubleshooting for the DS-300. But this I will check out, maybe this helps to find out the actually manufacturer from China.
Can you inform me about the exact naming of the DS-300 PCB-card (maybe to find in the area of the ferrite coil and the both bipolar elcaps) ?
bro can you tell me IC1 part number.. i looked in datasheet its tl072 but when i replaced it didn,t work .. original one is defacing that,s why i didn,t get what ic they used

Have a dead D-300 amp in my def tech BP 7004 speakers.
Changed caps and cleaned for old glue.
Still dead, only red led turned on.
No sound. Can't see any burnt parts, changed all caps.
Have audio signal on the sign pin. But no sound.
Have also a working unit, with new caps...
So it seems to be easier to modify with a d amp from Ali express I'll guess...

Guess I'll try hook up a d-amp from Ali, just take power from the original supply, and input signal from the original "pre amp /filter" board.... Only thing that might be a challenge, is that there's a input for a mute signal on the original small D-300 amp board....

Worth a try....

So assume no one have ever managed to repair this small D-300 board?
