Do I really need a power supply for my home recording studio?
I’m trying to come up with a home recording studio of my own and aside from my iMac, I also have a keyboard, studio monitors, amplifiers, sound controller, a microphone and all that other stuff.
I’m just basically getting all these from a guide I found online and bringing all the stuff that I managed to buy for the past couple of years. So I’m still living with my parents and when my dad saw all these he threw a fit saying I’ll blow up our main fuse if I don’t get a good power supply. Is that right?
I have two power outlets in my room so that’s a total of 4 outlets and I thought that it should be good enough and I have the power supply for my computer (and my printer). This one says a power strip with a surge protector would do. I’m confused.
Should I get another power supply and what kind should I get? Thanks in advance!

I think your dad was joking. I don't know what the mains supply is because I don't know your country. In the UK private houses usually have an 80Amp main fuse. The ring main used to be fused at 30Amps, now 32Amps so to blow that you would need to use a 6kW power amp at full volume and lots of extra stuff!
There is no need for surge protectors etc, just use good quality mains cables and plug tops.
