I've been saving many (B&W) speakers from the bin. Recently I made an 805 with 7 inch Mid bass and down firing port based on 800N ,D.
I decided to take it up to a Higher level. Because I have worked with all kinds of materials like Polyester, epoxy silicon's etc, I have a lot of knowledge about all those materials and wanted to make a 2way speaker based on the Nautilus. For now I personally think I did a nice job creating the cabinets and (external) crossovers.
A person can always learn more or share information with equally minded fellas like you fellas. So any of you have similar Ideas like me?

Wes

Well, firstly I sculpted the model, sealed it, casted the model and finally laminated the moulds. They were made from a 3 layers technique.
The cabinets are about 14kg without plinths, or drivers. Just the naked cabinet.
I chose for epoxy instead of polyester.

But here comes the question,... High frequency is 3rd order, Mid bass is 2nd order. This speaker is basically a b&w silver signature (1991) in disguise 🥸.
It uses solid silver wires and coils.
However the tweeter and woofer have been modified.
I'm searching for a nice good cap for the 2nd order Mid bass unit. (Parallel with Mid bass unit)
The series coil is silver and the cap in parallel is currently the original silver film cap with an addition of a .82uF Audyn copper max.
Anyone any thoughts for a better 3.3uF original cap?
Thanks in advance,
Wes

Is that the original Silver Signature x/o?High frequency is 3rd order, Mid bass is 2nd order. This speaker is basically a b&w silver signature (1991) in disguise 🥸.
And may I kindly ask you what modifications have been done to both woofer and tweeter?
They used to be the original crossovers but the speaker needed an upgrade. It sure was a good speaker back in the days and it's still very good by today's standards.
However it was lacking midrange and therefore has been modified.
The crossovers have been modified when still being used with the ss25 and the result was very good. Ultimately the tweeter and Mid bass unit were not calculated for the modifications and I needed to alter a few things.
The centre pole of the bass unit has now a copper ring of faraday and the tweeter is now an "S" tweeter from the first D series. The only original part of the tweeter, believe it or not, are the coils. The newer tweeters have the Nautilus tube (hollow center piece) technology and also a silver plated pole piece. So both the tweeter and Mid bass unit perform terrific.
I take you are also a ss25 owner?

Solid silver coils too? Why not go active xo?It uses solid silver wires and coils.
No, I am not. But unfortunately you gave no info as to how exactly the x/o has been modified, other than replacing the caps. Redesign or part replacement only?I take you are also a ss25 owner?
How have you managed to get the Faraday ring in the woofer motor?
