Im having trouble dismantling this LCD, the FLEX cable is blocked by a metal casing and i cant move it 🙁 ...ppl with the VG150 would understand what i mean...sorry but i have no pic :'(
im wondering if its possible to remove the flex cable? and possible put it back after i remove the metqal casing, im unsure if the flex will be damaged so im asking if anyone here has experience on this.
Thanks

you just left IRC, but I think that your problem is the lack of the signal. Almoast all monitors have a yellow light when there is no signal... maybe your computer has the setting on to turn off your monitor after X mins of no use...
I'd look into weather or not it is getting a signal... My LCD has a yellow light when there is no signal... turns green when I plug the VGA jack in...

unfortunately that is not the problem i tried that, inserting the VGA cable monitor 2 AND 1 and i get nothing, b4 i dismantled it i got it as #2. and plus my system detects the lcd and i activated it and i got nothing...im putting it back 2gether now step by step and see if i can fix it, i already foudn one mistake but not a HUGE one, the OSD connecter was loose i just connected it correctly if it powers on now with backlight then i think i got a solution. thankx for the reply Z 🙂
Don't know if this will help you negative design. But in the first diy projector thread there is a link to this beautiful step by step guide on taking apart the vg150. You should search through all the pages and see if its still there.
crash...
unfortunately i dont think that guide will help much now....the lcd is messed up, i get an unfocused image of the "no signal" message, when i plug it into my system i see the monitor is still reacting the colors change and so on but it to unfocused to even get an idea of what its displaying and this is back in the case not on the ohp (so dont say adjust lens..lol)
needless to say ...im not happy with this..i may even quit diy i dont understand how the #&$k i failed sh** im donw 200$ im hoping this crap will at least give me a clear display so i can sell it....dammit maybe i should of kept my Sharp 1200..
...and repeat..

Part of This Process, LCD Broken and Lot of Money Wasted.
You are lucky having something working. I have already spent more than 1000 dollar and I don't have decent working set up. Two OHP's and Four Panels and Two Projectors to find out how to make it work. To me it looks day by day more difficult.
One question, why did you start with VG when we have a list of good LCD's.
I opened yesterday 1600GS and it was showing a picture before opening and after opening and putting it back , nothing.
I was learning as what I will expect when I open my own LCD which is color and more expensive by comparing ot this 10 dollar panel. Simulated Failure, you can call that.
This underscores the need to seek help from those Koreans web site DIYs and then put this knowledge to chinease players to make chances of our successess better.

the reason why i chose the VG was bcuz i found it REALLY cheap on ebay and mario007 and Myren have used it succesfully myren sez its easy to use and its his best spent money, i've come to find out this is a different story for me this LCd is by no means easy ...maybe its just bcuz of my monitor inexperience. i also chose it bcuz of its contrast ratio i want 350:1 or higher
this lcd was so beautiful too
i honestly couldnt tell a difference betwee my crt and this lcd i played GTA series and played some movies and it actually looke better and sharper than my crt my crt is a gateway ev700
hopefully i can get some decent $$ selling it on ebay as is....

Sorry to hear about the loss. I hope you can save it someway.
I also noticed it cheap on ebay but I wont be bying it now for sure.
I am going to stick to either the cmv1512 or the I-O Data 15v but I cant find this one yet. sstcomputers.com does not sell them anymore and wont be getting anymore apparently.

I'm not 100% sure on this but is it possible when you were reconstructing the panel that you simply put the sheets behind the LCD in the wrong order? As for the panel it is a beautiful panel quite possibly one of the best LCD monitors I have ever seen. It is also quite easy to diassemble if you're EXTREMELY careful on how you take it apart. I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work you and best luck to you on future projects.
what sheets? im sorry but i saw no sheets, i put the bare LCD on my OHP and i think that could of been a problem right there when i turn on the LCD there is an outline of where the OHP light was.
I was extremely careful but not that careful with the actual LCD but i was careful while taking it apart and handeling ffcs.
I'd like to say that the monitors STILL works but it doesnt work right... 🙁 it still responds to applications and so on no messed up pixels or anything but the image it out of focus and strethed from top to bottom...i think this thing can be fixed..but if i ever do fix it im selling is ASAP!! this lcd isnt easy for DIY, the far corner FFC is straight but it need to be under the reciving socket but the 2second FFC has to be over it it would need a specialy design enclosure which i cannot do..
well thanks for the help guys...

Negative-
What made you decide to go for the VG150 instead of models like CMV1512 and NEC? Do you think your experience would be different if you had used a different monitor?

I bought the VG150 before the CMV was here, and CMVs cant be found any where now the NECs are hard to find and they usualy go above 200++$ and i saw this on ebay for 184 shipped i heard of many success stories with this LCD as well.
i think the situation would be different if i had known about the site i just posted.
