I didn't find much mention of directional baffle (ala VOT) when I searched. I was wondering What the reletive merits of this design v.s. a true horn would be. It seems that the DB would make it much easier to provide phase alignment and would have some of the acoustic loading advantages of the horn but would probably have more distortion (esp. with a reflex enclosure).
Would that be a generally accurate assesment? Also, Does the DB have as much high frequency rolloff as a true horn? Would the acoustical loading of the DB change the effective Qts of the driver (and thus alter the calculations for a bass reflex back chamber)? What would be the typical gain in SPL from DB v.s. a direct radiating reflex design.
