Hello
I tried to find something to identify this diode but can't find any number related to this. Here are the numbers stamped on the diode. What is this diode ? I think it's a zener but .... Thanks

8240 could very well be the date code, 1982 week 40, perhaps 82 is 82V ? Or 8.2V even? Do you have anyway of testing this?
I'll do the schem tomorrow. This diode is in a regulator.
What's the regulator output voltage? Is it an emitter follower series regulator?
I finally found the dilemma. It is like an 1N5388 200 volts zener. It is on the circuit to keep the voltage down to 200 volts at the pass transistor at turn on. My friend has an amp with the same reg. There is 3 of these mystery diodes in the reg. When turning on the amp, at the 3 diodes, the voltage reach 200 volts and lower to near 50 volts when the reg is hot.
