I need to replace PSU caps in my 2 KD990 t/ts. They are Elna 2200uF/25V snap in 25mm w x 18mm d. There is a Polish guy on Ebay offering a complete set of electros for the KD990. I don't need a complete set just the PSU caps. I left a message on Ebay hoping he would response - no joy. I can see he's using 2700uF/50V which are the same size but I can't see the make. Can anyone help?
Absolutely right - nothing exotic needed at all. I got a replay from Przemyslaw - Nichicon LKS 3300uF/35V. That's the aof those Japanese d/d decks from the 70s/80s superb engineering coupled with well designed and executed electronics.Any...... as in ANY decent 2200/25 cap with the same physical measure will do the job 100%.
Nothing exotic needed.Going up to 35 or 50 volt won´t hurt, if you can make them fit.
In a record player/turntable with a total power consumption of 5-10 watts??You must care about their ESR and currents capabilities .

Nice..... If you can find them, since they´re long obsolete.Nichicon LKS 3300uF/35V
The KW series though, if you´re in for Nichicon, will do fine and last you a lifetime (depending on how old you are 😊 )
I did a quick look and that is an odd size. If there is more vertical space available, you could expand the search to taller caps. 18mm is pretty short. Even an extra 2mm to allow for a 20mm tall cap increased what I saw on digi.
Crazy - RS France has them but not being a business I logged onto RS Particulier where they were - unavailable? I will check out the KW series.Nice..... If you can find them, since they´re long obsolete.

It's not a matter of consumption , a psu have electric characteristics that have been thought and should be respected , ask any good engineer he will tell youIn a record player/turntable with a total power consumption of 5-10 watts??

So my 50 years old exam papers in electronics don´t count???ask any good engineer he will tell you
Nice to know 😆
Fischer & Tausche are always good.
Could check if the dimensions fit in.
Can use higher voltage cap group.
Look for higher temperature types = longer life.

otherwise. Conrad f ex has many, snap in types here (though non-snap in could be an option, too)

Nope, that is old school. You need some recent certificate less that two years else it is expired. So my 50 years old exam papers in electronics don´t count???

I didn't get to see the latest posts, some sort of problem with diy server. However I got to order Nichicon 2200uF/50V snap in from a Polish company. It's the right size but as always postage isn't cheap.
Fingers xed this solves the problem with my Kenwood decks, continuity checks says it should.
Many thanks for all input.
