differences between marantz 63 and 63mkii

HI,

Can someone tell the differences between marantz 63 and 63mkii? new components?


I own both of the above players, my 63mkii display is death and I'm worry that moving "back" to 63 will affect the sound/performance, although I did not hear any differences when I compare the players.

I've already been illuminated in that regard but it still baffles me.

It happens to me too.

For example, if I have to drill 10 holes I fret over each hole - is the location correct, can I get the drill bit perpendicular to the work, etc. I have to study each potential hole for several minutes and often pace back and forth, smoking a cigarette to calm me down. I get the shakes as I place the drill bit on the crosshairs. After the hole is finally drilled I have to measure the location of the exit spot to make sure it is exactly under the crosshairs. Only when things are right, can I relax. Then, it's on to the next hole. I'm so exhaused by the time I finish a project I feel like I could sleep for a week. But, of course, I can't sleep at all because of the worry that there is something important which I have forgotten.

Sometimes I feel that I am not cut out for DIY. That worries me a lot because it's the only thing that relaxes me.

There are 3 differences:

1. 63mkII has slightly different power transformer. When compared, 63mkII transformer had more laminates. Windings appeared exactly the same.
2. 63mkII has in addition a thick metal bottom plate for stiffening.
3. There is also a metal brace connecting sides to further stiffen the unit.

I have modified both and liked plane 63 better – it was more natural sounding to me.

No I did not mod anything, I just bought the player with death display... any suggestions?

Try to use the "Search" function for the word "display" you will find some one posted the same problem and also solution for it!.

dead display marantz

you can also use a blowdryer; remove the hood of the player and point the dryer at the PGB. at first the area of the connexion to the display then go slowly backwards to the rear of the PGB. suddenly the display will show up. then its just a matter of pinpointing the critical failure and replace it. (it worked for me just fine)🙂
