Difference between the "2-way" plugin and the "2-way+sub" (2.1)

I think I get this, but I want to make sure. If I understand the data sheets correctly, these two plugins are identical, except that the 2.1 has an added option of mixing two outputs for a single sub if desired. But if that mixing option ("mono sub out") is not used, the unit operates exactly as the regular 2-way plugin. That would make the 2.1 plugin a bit more versatile but otherwise the same.

Do I have it right?

You do have this right and understood correctly.

Note as well that the I2S data assignment and output is different between the 2way and 2.1. It will affect how you will hook up your speakers.
