Did anyone else get a lot done during this damn pandemic?

Not shown: a jfet tester, and Singing Bush. (Too hot and humid this summer.)

All of this construction is due to that great solder from the Store, which makes soldering (and almost makes desoldering) a pleasure.

I hope the image is right-side up when you click on it. I don't really know how to work these computers. (It was so much easier in the slide-rule days.)

Uhm. Yes! I built the VFet CSX1 :

My Sony VFET CSX1 Adventures & Grief !

That's quite the collection of boxes you have there. When will you start building (or finishing one of them?) 😛

All of the boards except the J2 are stuffed, so I'm regarding them as built. I, however, only have one chassis, so the decision on which amplifier to actually install and get up and running is not yet made. (Using an M2X right now.) My first choice is probably to use the Impasse/F4 combo, but that will require some work (punching holes for the tubes) on a nice Impasse enclosure that I have.

The "relay" box holds Mark Johnson's soft start/delay/front switch board, btw, and I'll probably move from Meanwell switchers to a conventional CLC supply and employ Mark's gizmo.

wow - you have been busy

ZM squared...

the world is not ready, not sure it ever will be.

I didn't build much but lots of planning and sorted out my work area.

100 W AB "summer amp"

OB planning

SE - BAL & BAL-SE

acp+ for M2X / free standing preamp

NP H2 tour - made this so that it could travel about and allow non DIY folk to play with H2 - currently floating around California

it didn't feel like I was busy but seems I got a few things done

Work has been brutally busy for me, so "hobby time" has been pretty minimal.

I built a prototype fixed gain IronPre (5 Iron) - still have to do some troubleshooting to get some noise out of it. It's been 6 weeks of crazy work since I have been able to get back to it...

I bought a Tim Rawson F3 on audio mart and did the usual grounding fixes.

Built a "hush box" for projector, makes a HUGE difference.

To Do:
- Few updates / checkout's to 2 Welborne Laurel 300B amps I build 21 years ago. One for me, one is my cousin's.
- SissySIT bias circuit updates - have parts, don't have time...
- Continue design, then protype bass guitar amp for friend: Carvin X100B preamp to Ampeg SVT preamp to Ice Power 500W Class D amp.
- Take buddy's Zu modified Denon cartridge of my turntable and put my rebuilt cartridge back on. "Any day now..." for past few weeks.

One upside to pandemic has been discovering new and new-to-me music. Bandcamp, Spotify, metal-archives.com, and a few blogs are all great resources for my tastes. I also learned a new term for the genre I tend to like: NWOTHM ("New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal") Highlights have been: New Light Choir (USA), Tarot (Australia), Wizar'd (Australia), Emblem (Canada), Hallas (Sweden), Ice Sword (USA), Meurtrieres (France), Storm (Norway), Angel Sword (Finland), Warlord (USA), Blaspheme (France). All of this translates to a volume of record buying action on the Paypal account.

Iron Pre, converted my M2 and Aleph J into mono blocks,Installed I select in 3 different preamps..... 2 BA3 FE and BA 2018 line stage, worked on F7 boards, SissySit boards, and stuffed new store BA 2018 line stage. I think that is it.

I got my M2X mono blocks upgraded with new silent toriods and also installed IEC with filter. The old toroid's had some mechanical hum.
Next step it to setup the mono blocks for a listening test. Measurements looks ok.
I got some weeks with my modified 300B SE tube amp while the modification took place. 300B plays really nice. Interesting to go back to M2X. Maybe this evening.....

2020 has been a good year for diy so far. CCC 6s4a modded Stax 007tA, started a BA3 preamp build, 600VA transformer for F1J, reorganized my vinyl, new benchtop PSU, F4 headamp build, modded distortion analyzer, x j ccs bosoz build nearing completion, new khozmo stepped attenuator, and a VFET linestage.

Cleaned up work area. Went through a bunch of parts and collected stuff just to see what I have. Put away my 6A3 A2 monoblocks. Built ACA v1.6. Ordered parts for F6. Learned a few things about transistor circuits and testing.
