A friend dropped of a Denon DC-1000 cd player that seems to have some little problems. Sometimes it plays well but with a little clicking sound on both channels, sometimes it plays without the clicking but skips quite a lot, sometimes several seconds of a track (even with new perfectly clean CDs.
I have inspected the circuit board and at two points the tracks are broken but this seems to have always been there. I would like to check this on the schematics but these turn out to be very hard to find.
If someone has a service manual that I could use or any other advice on how to deal with this problem, I'm all ears/eyes

My guess is that you have a weak laser. Worth noticing is that this CD player doesn't sound very good since it has no over sampling and have an extreme phase shift in the gigantic LC-filter. I have had this CDP and compared it to newer ones with the same CD. I got this CDP for my father in 1985 I think.
