Denon AVR-1709 intermittent protect

This unit goes into protect intermittently. With no signal or load. Heating and cooling, flexing PCB's etc. will not make it fail. When it works it is fine, no noise or pops. After going into protect I can turn it back on and it will work. No DC offset on output transistors. Power supply voltages check OK. Has anyone seen one like this before?

I had a 1910 that would occasionally go into protect mode when powering on (from standby mode). I ended up having to redo the speakers banana plus a few times, it's been fine for several months now.
