Boy do I feel like an idiot
I just got a new Audigy 2 ZS, along with a medium-budget 5.1 cinema system, but I forgot to research into the necessary connections presuming i'd have the correct cables lying around to be able to connect it all up... Wrong!
Try as I might, I haven't been able to source the correct cabling to wire this puppy up. According to the documentation that came with the Audigy 2, if I want to use any speaker system other than a Creative speaker set, I have to use the 4-pole Digital out (3.5mm or MiniPlug as they call it).
Problem is the only inputs I have on my 5.1 speaker system are the standard 6 Phono's, or an SPDIF DIN. So I guess i'm going to need some kind of cable (or combination of) that's got a digital 4 pole "MiniPlug" on one end, and a SPDIF DIN on the other end.
Can you guys suggest anywhere I might look for this kind of cabling?
Thanks in advance,
Steve H.

I just bought the same sound card.
I don't think the SPDIF output on the back of the card is true 5.1.
Can you imagine the cost of putting a full 5.1 reciever in a set of cheap computers speakers (well not cheap... like >$1000 AUD) ?
What I think (!) they do is output the 7 channels in 2 channel SPDIF, hence the need for the 3.5mm connector.
Which is nice if you have 3 external DAC's....
The other thing I found is pinout for the expansion port. This contains a digital in/out found on the Live Drive on the model above the ZS (platinium I think)
Try connecting the signal to a coax cable and a toslink transmitter and you should get some results.
