Hi diyaudio,
I'm currently building a set of ported, full range (6" drivers) floor-standing speakers. (w/ gainclone amp)
I've read on the net that using a piezo super tweeter can be done without a XO and will add a great deal to the "openness" or "presence" to music. I'm quite sensitive to high frequencies, so I believe this is worthwhile.
I've also read that a common piezo element (the ones that look like coins) can be used with little modification (with only a series resistor to change how the load appears to the amp).
I'd like to know if anyone has any experience experimenting with piezos as super tweeters and if they could share their insights.
I searched the forum already but didn't find anything specifically about this.
Thanks!
