Hello, by varying a 1KHz RMS sine wave Vout into an 8 ohm resistive load, is it correct that the measured current consumption "IM" from the mains (stable at 230VAC) will be constant until the amplifier changes class A to class AB?
At that point (when the mains current starts to increase) I should understand how much power is delivered in class A before switching to class AB (whose maximum power output will be when the THD approaches 1%)
by making:
Power in Class A = Vout^2 /8 @IM constant
Total Power (in Class A+AB) = Vout^2 /8 @THD < 1%
Class A operation ratio %= Power in Class A / Total Power * 100
In general how should be the IM curve for a Class A/AB amplifier?
