So I ran across a great deal on ebay for a power supply for a car stereo. It's the Fender Passport DC/DC converter that is usually used for powering their portable system from a battery.
Most are about $80 on ebay, but I got mine for about $20 shipped.
What I think is really cool is that I will be able to try out different amplifier setups and just use this separate SMPS.
One thing I am not sure about though is the inout voltage. It says 12V nominal input and never says anything about if it works with 13.8V or 10V or anything. Anyway, I opened it and it does look like anything why fry from a couple extra volts.
Anyway, I'm just passing the tip along.
