Have a look at this small chipamp on ebay....
Ceratec Microamp
Not worth buying since it's cheap to build a high-spec chipamp, but interesting to know that these things are becoming common.
Anyone heard this thing?

Doesn't look digital - you can see what looks like LM3875 or one of that family....
I guess it could be any similar type chip though

Somehow I think the heatsink should be larger than those two scraps of aluminum.
Edit: Nevermind, I didn't see that it is connected to the chassis underneath the PCB.

Carlos,
Is that the Amp where you had probs with the two small caps hitting the heat sink?
Looks like it turned out very nice!😉

Back on topic. Would that chip be a TDA7377 or simular?
Requires small transformer. And small heat sink.

My wife would kill me if I spend that much...
You can do it for quite a bit less... but the fancy case would knock you in one-of quantities.

Yes, David...that was the original test mule for the TweedybirdOne kids retro amp. Two in service since Xmas with no complaints 😀
I'm staring at a third finished cabinet that needs the amp...that's going to my niece soon. I'll post pics soon.
Nordic yeah...one off parts is not where it ends...it can quickly add up the first DIY time around:
Toroid $30
Amp Kit $50
Extruded Case $30
Cables, RCA, binding posts $50
Alps pot $40
I mean you can quickly exceed $200-$300 in a decent DIY project if you go "brand name"...you know...Cardas, Vampire, Black Gate, Tocos, Alps, Noble...nevermind the working man stuff they sell at Parts Express...that could still set you back $100-$200 with the Dayton Audio brand stuff.
I'm sure there's a reason the more esoteric, finished GCs go for $2-$3Gs.

Yeah, I am still building stuff from the excess components I bought in ignorance at the start of my hobby... even scratched out 13 RCA sockets today for my new preamp... once you find a particular cap or other component in a specific value that you, like, stock up, nothing gets cheaper.
But yeah, I feel, ya, that first amp is the most expensive to build, and I'm glad my first was not a kit, which only leaves you with an amp and some experience, but you need to start from scratch for the next one...
Part hunting becomes part of the fun of DIY... for commercial design, of course, using old well established and easily sourceable components rule.
One thing I still want to get in usefull values are some Sikorel caps... but hey, getting a few surplus components every month soon mankes your workshop look, well.... like a shop.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I had so many parts left over from my first build, I felt obligated to build a second! 😀
I kinda feel stoopid considering that just months ago I snapped up perfectly good Adcom GFA-535 IIs for a little over $100 and those are REAL amps 😀
I find myslef looking at budget audio stuff in the shop thinking... hmmm that is cheap for this case... lol
One of those is on ebay.de for 16€.
Still spring clips and no cardas binding post.
It is claimed that the amp originally was 250€
For 2* 35 w @less than 50% efficiency I guess that the transformer should not fit the case.
And yeah I try those kind of things, I've made some tiny amps both of gainclones and tripaths

I'm in the midst of my firstbuild, and somehow I thought it was just me. Whew, at least I know that I'm not all out on my own here.

when i started, I had to buy all the parts I needed for a project. after buying different components after saying "hey, I could use that someday!" for many many times, I can build projects without buying anything.
