I have made some CD24 24/96 disks with an Alesis Masterlink. According to Alesis, the CD24 format in AIFF files should be recognised by all computer CDRom drives. The reverse seems to be true as I cannot paly these using CD player or Power DVD in any computer.
What do I need to get these going?

Are the tracks recorded in AIFF files?
Do you have any software compatible with those files?
I think that AIFF are Macintosh's equivalent of Wav files.
I hope that the machine didn't record the CD also with the Mac's filesystem.
Is the CD recognized?
Can you see the files?

Yes 24/96 AIFF. WINAMP is supposed to play it but doesn't produce music. Cool EDit Pro and Sonic Foundry 6 won't play them either. I am at a loss😕 😕 😕
Copy the files to the HDD and try Easy CD-DA Extractor, maby you can convert those files to WAV...
I have been looking for infomation on 24/96 upsampling SW lately, and I remember reading some posts at AA on the Alexis.
You might try a search over there, and see what turns up. I think someone was trying to play a 24/96 CD from the masterlink on his CDP, then figured out there were special files on the CD, that you need to read on your PC to use.
BTW, I am hoping to make some 24/96 DAD's that I can play on my DVD player.
Good luck,
Randy

I was hoping to as well, but bought the ML9600 at a good price (US price) from Germany!! Keep us informed on progtress please. One issue is the highish price of silent PCs.
40 GB Maxtor HD which is very quiet.

Good luck,

I am using a program called DVD-lab. So far, I have made a burn in disk for my new DVD player. Fit 6 hours of uncompressed 16/44 files on it, making the DVD with slide shows. Every song corresponds to a black "slide".
I made a 24/96 file with DBPowerAmp, and dvd-lab can read the file it. Did not try compiling and burning it yet.
I have DBPowerAmp, and r8brain to convert with, but I am wondering what is the best program to make the 24/96 files with? I have been searching different forums, but not much help, as this is a new thing, and it seems that not many people have tried it yet.

Kicking up some dust but I also have a Masterlink and was wondering how well (if at all) the CD24 discs play on other machines.
I'd rather not have the Alesis in the main rack to play CD24 discs if possible.
Planning to rip my Vinyl to CD24/96 format (probably 2 cds per album)
Thanks in advance!
